Prognosis
Labels Fragile X
The prognosis for a child with fragile X syndrome depends on sex and on
the number of repeated triplets in the FMR1 gene. Girls usually have a
better prognosis for intellectual development than boys; children with
fewer repeats in the gene have a better prognosis than those with several
hundred. People with fragile X syndrome do, however, have a normal life
expectancy.
